From the moment I came out of Emily's chambers.

I could not hold it in. My eyes were heavily blurred, and tears, threatening to pour out.

So I ran.

Until I was alone on the roof top.

As I leaned against the wall, sobs in torrents shook out of me.

“I'm sorry, Damon… I'm so sorry… but… but there's really nothing I can do…”

Back in the room, the hurt in his eyes nearly knocked my bones out. I didn't think I could look him in the eye, let alone be able to walk past him without my knees buckling…
