"Alex?" I muttered, disbelief washing over me. "What is he doing here?"

"You know him?" Julian asked, his brow furrowed. I cursed under my breath. In my panic, I had forgotten I was standing right in front of him. Heck. What am I going to say now?

"Yes... I mean no." What was I even saying? My mind raced as I tried to formulate a believable explanation.

"Then how did you know his name?" Julian pressed, his gaze piercing through me.

"Sophie cheated on you, so I found out who she cheated with—it's her ex-boyfriend." My heart raced as I hoped my lie would be convincing...
