I kept expecting to feel her die.That's what happened when a mate died, wasn't it? The bond is supposed to snap violently, and cause a physical severing that left you gasping and broken right? Well, I'd felt nothing.

One moment the bond was there, the next moment, just... silence.

Which meant either the spell had severed it so completely I couldn't feel her death, or...or she wasn't dead.

I'd spent the first week searching, tearing through the ruins of the safe house, analyzing the body they'd found, running every test I knew. The body was wasn't hers, that I was sure of but no one wanted to hear...
