Zephyr's POV

I knew I was close to the surface when I felt a deep, aching throb that radiated from everywhere and nowhere at once. My muscles like they'd been shredded and poorly stitched back together even breathing hurt. It was followed by an intense need and want.

Oh no.

I knew this feeling, had felt it before, though never quite this intense.

Was I was going into heat?

My eyes fluttered open, and the world came into focus slowly. I blinked at a ceiling I didn't recognize.

Where was I?

I tried to sit up and immediately regretted it as I felt a sharp pang deep in my gut...
