I went rigid as Valta emerged from the trees

"Well, isn't this touching," she said. She smiled. "Father and daughter, reunited at last."

"Valta," Alex said carefully. "What are you doing here?"

"The same reason you are here Father. I won't miss this family reunion for the world." She looked at me. "Hello, sister."

My stomach turned. "Don't call me that." I snapped

"Why not? We're step-siblings, after all. Daddy dearest married your mother after he left ours." Her smile widened. "Didn't he tell you?"

I stared at Alex. "What Is she talking about?"

Alex's face went white. "Zephyr... I can explain..."
