The basement was worse than Jordan's apartment. In there, although I was locked up, he still fed me and treated me like I was something but in here, I was nothing.
The concrete floor was cold against my skin with no bed just a thin, scratchy blanket that did nothing against the cold seeping up from the ground. Twenty other girls were crammed into a space meant for half that number. The air was thick with the smell of unwashed bodies, fear, and despair.
