Kael was convinced he had truly traveled back in time so that things could change—even from Lucas’s perspective. And if he had another chance, that meant he might be able to win Eira back.

With confident strides, Kael ran into the abandoned building. Wild plants had taken root all over the building’s walls.

“Kael, there’s no one there!” Lucas shouted.

But Kael didn’t care. He climbed the stairs toward the unit where he’d last seen Eira.

“EIRA!” Kael searched for Eira in the room, which was overrun with mold, and some of the walls looked like they were crumbling.
