'Where are you off to?" Ivy, my adopted mother, calls after me.

"To the woods."

Her lips curl into a small smile. Ivy and I are both obsessed with the forest since we are both tree nymphs. Well...tree nymph werewolf hybrid, to be exact.

"Have fun. Don't forget to make it back home by dinner. I am cooking your favorite meal," she says.

I raise an eyebrow. "Ivy, you don't know how to cook," I remind her.

Ivy chuckles softly, her emerald eyes twinkling with mischief. "Ah, Kaelan, you caught me. But a mother's love can work wonders, you know. I have a surprise for you tonight."
