Killian turned his gaze around as well, but Jerry was nowhere to be seen. That was strange, given that I had seen him following us down the trail just a moment ago. He was an incredibly loyal dog, never one to wander off. My anxiety peaked even more as I looked back and forth, whipping my head around so hard that it felt like my neck was about to snap. Killian gripped my arm tightly, forcing me to stop.

"Calm down, fighter," he soothed me softly. I took a deep breath, trying to soothe my racing heart.

"We will find him for sure," Killian said calmly.
