I fought to hold back my tears as I walked out of the company building.

I couldn’t face going home—not like this. With trembling hands, I pulled my phone from my bag and dialed Elewon’s number.

“Hi, babe.” Her voice came through after the second ring, warm and familiar.

“Are you home?” I asked.

“Yes, I am. Do you want to hang out?”

“I’m on my way to your place. See you soon.”
