The club throbbed with heavy beats that rattled my teeth, strobe lights cutting through the haze of smoke and sweat.

I slung drinks behind the bar, my tight white shirt clinging to my chest from the sticky heat, scanning the crowd for anyone flashing cash.

That's when Don Alvarez caught my eye again.

He lounged in the VIP section like he owned the damn place, his black suit stretched over those massive shoulders, a thick cigar glowing between his fingers.

He stared at me hard—dark and piercing, like he was stripping me bare right there.
