With the face that Charles presents, Rose does not feel at all comfortable, she asks herself a thousand and one questions, all her ideas are focused on these papers which are spread out on the table. Mariam decides to go stay on the veranda as she tells herself that she doesn't really belong there. But Charles told her she can stay, because she's part of the family.
