I was almost beside myself with excitement. My mom was here!

I remember being scared that I would never see her again after Asher had said he was going to banish me, but since I couldn't remember what happened after that, I was a bit surprised that she was here. 

Why was I here? And why did she have to come? I could only hope that with time, I would remember everything. 

Beside me, Asher was quiet. I ignored him. There was something suspicious I couldn't put my finger on, and I didn't want to overthink it. He smelled a bit odd, like he had been with someone...
