The horses shifted suddenly, their ears twitching as well... They knew, they could sense the danger.

I turned my head slightly, as I narrowed my eyes toward the trees.

They were approaching us slowly, trying to blend with the shadows. I had been so carried away with talking to Kira that I had failed to notice the sudden calmness of the birds.

Kira noticed it too as she whispered. “Luna? Are we being watched l?”

I didn’t answer right away but every sense of my body was alert.

From the woods, I could now clearly see the shadows. They were quiet, watchful and most of all uninvited.
