POV: Chloe 

On the second day after the fight, Tristan said, to the room in general but clearly directing it at Ethan, 

"The nurse mentioned my discharge is four more days. Maybe five."

Ethan was on his phone and didn't look up. "Okay."

"Someone will need to manage the project calls while I'm here."

"I'll handle it," Ethan said, still not looking up.

"I wasn't asking you," Tristan said pleasantly.

"I was telling Chloe." Ethan looked up.

"I can manage the calls," I said, stepping in before Ethan could respond.

"Both of you already know that. Neither of you needs to be in charge of who helps me with what."...
