Bertha looked up into a very gray familiar eyes in confusion, but the eyes looked back at her in anger.
She knew these eyes. She could recognize them even in her sleep. How did this happen?
Her son noticed she was lying on the person.
She could see that the person she was looking at did not appreciate her lying on top of him.
“You won’t get up?” he asked.
“Sorry,” she said and made to get up.
But when she tried to stand, the vines got in the way, making her struggle. The more she struggled, the angrier he seemed.
