"What's wrong, Ms. Grandelle?" Abel entered and found Eileen sitting pale-faced on the sofa, looking as if she'd been struck a heavy blow, barely conscious.

Eileen didn't hear a word Abel said. She couldn't even make out his figure clearly, just sensing a presence moving around.

She felt utterly drained, lost in a haze.

Abel, too, was momentarily disoriented. His gaze fell on the phone on the floor.

Instinctively, he bent down to pick it up, intending to call Rafael. But just then, Eileen lunged forward, snatching the phone away as if possessed.
