The pool water felt cold as Julio’s body plunged into it. He stayed underwater for quite a while, letting the water cover his head and ears, as if trying to silence all the noise inside his mind. When he surfaced, his breathing was still heavy, but the heat that had tortured him earlier slowly subsided.

“Damn…” he muttered softly.

Julio leaned against the edge of the pool, both hands gripping the ceramic tiles. His wet hair dripped water. He tilted his head back, staring at the dark night sky.

“I almost lost control,” he said to himself.

He rubbed his face, trying to recall what had happened in Tania’s apartment....
