Lena paced in front of the kids, her hair messy, her eyes wild. She hadn’t slept. She hadn’t eaten. Her mind was spinning out of control, and every few minutes she snapped at shadows only she could see.
Marcus stood at the opposite end of the room, arms folded, jaw tight. He looked angry angrier than he had been since this mess started but most of all, he looked tired of her.
