Maya was bent over her sketchpad, making last-minute adjustments to a client’s design when April, hurried in.

“Miss Denovan, your appointment client is here,” April said softly, clutching her tablet.

Maya didn’t look up at first. “Please, let her in. I’ll be done with this sketch in a second.”
