Maya was sitting in Elias’s car, resting her head gently against the window as soft music hummed through the speakers. They had just finished checking some last-minute wedding details, and everything felt calm almost peaceful.

Elias glanced at her and smiled. “You look tired.”

“I’m fine,” she murmured, smiling back. “Just excited. Everything is… finally falling into place.”

But before she could say anything else, Elias’s phone buzzed loudly against the console. He picked it up without thinking then froze.

It was Colton.

And Colton never called twice in under two seconds unless something was seriously wrong.
