"Congratulations," Derek said, his voice warm. "Both of you."

Tristan came over then, and Derek held out his hand. They shook, and then Tristan pulled him into a hug too.

"Thank you, brother," Tristan said. "For being there, for helping, for being part of our family."

"Always," Derek responded simply, and the word seemed to mean everything.

"Come inside," Orion gestured toward the house. "I've got champagne chilling, and we need to celebrate properly."
