I opened my mouth to explain, but Lorenzo cut me off. "Meet me right now," he demanded.

"Ri... Right now?" I stuttered. "I thought we were supposed to meet tonight?"

"Meet me right now, and don't ask any obnoxious questions," he snapped, his tone firm. I nodded, even though he couldn't see me.

"Okay, where are you?" I asked. "I'll be coming right away."

"I'm at the office," he replied, his voice cold and detached before abruptly ending the call.
