I trudged to the liquor cabinet, my mind swirling with the weight of my deception. Pouring myself a glass of wine, the amber liquid glowed in the dim light. I stepped onto the balcony, where the cool night air embraced me.
As I took a sip, I noticed a figure leaning against the railing at the other side. It was Toby, who
lived in the house close to mine with the attached railings.
"You're up late," I said softly.
Toby turned, his eyes gleaming in the moonlight. "Couldn't sleep," he replied, holding up his own glass.
I joined him at the railing, our silence broken only by the clinking...
