As Lorenzo excused himself to transfer the files to Rita's phone, she turned to me with a warm smile.

"Let's exchange numbers," she suggested, handing me her phone. "After all, we'll be sisters-in-law soon."

My eyes sparkled as I entered my number, a hint of amusement in my voice.

"Actually, we aren't officially engaged yet," I clarified, my lips curving into a gentle smile.

Rita's brow raised as she questioned me. "What do you mean? Haven't you two gotten engaged yet?"

I hesitated, unsure of how to explain. "We did, but...I gave him back the ring."

"Why would you do that?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
