Cole’s POV
I woke up to a pounding headache, the kind that made my skull feel like it was being split open with an axe. My entire body ached, every muscle sore like I'd been hit by a truck. My mouth was dry as hell, my tongue thick, my throat burning from what I guessed was last night’s whiskey and the aftermath of vomiting.
The air smelled different…stale, like old cigarettes and cheap air freshener. It was nothing like the crisp, clean scent of my penthouse. The sheets beneath me felt rough, scratchy against my skin, a far cry from the high-thread-count luxury I was used to.
Something wasn’t right....
