The next morning, Vivienne dropped me off at school, then grabbed my hand and dragged me inside before I could catch my breath.

I couldn't stop smiling. She was going to do my makeup. For the first time, I might actually look pretty. Maybe Liam would finally see me differently. Maybe his parents would actually approve of me.

I was already picturing it—Liam's eyes lighting up when he saw me, his parents nodding in approval, the wedding bells ringing in the distance.
