The elevator doors had barely closed behind the Chairman and the directors before I felt the stares.
The main office floor was already buzzing, but the moment I walked in, conversations stuttered. Heads turned. Eyes followed me from the elevator to my desk.
I kept my chin up, focused on the path ahead, and ignored the whispers.
