JASPERS POV

The shield was up, and I was exceedingly grateful. I felt like I could sleep tonight knowing my family, and the pack, was that much safer.

"Thank you." I said again.

"No need to thank me."

"You think you'll be staying for a while?" I asked.

"For a little while. I don't like to be away from Rose too long."

Vie had told me her grandparents story. It was heartbreaking, to say the least.

"I understand."

We stepped onto the sidewalk. Violet was waiting for me, standing under a tree with Tracy. They were chatting happily and I smiled for the fact that she'd made a friend here....
