RORY'S POV

WHAT?

I headed to the kitchen to prepare the tea. I crushed the dried elderleaf in my palms, letting the scent fill the air before dropping it into the kettle of boiling water. A pinch of moonbark root followed, then a swirl of honey to ease the bitterness. I stirred it slowly, watching the steam rise as if it could carry away the frustration building inside me.

He had just sent me off to get him tea.

Just like that.

As if I hadn’t just woken from what felt like an eternal sleep. No questions. No curiosity about what it felt like, being trapped between life...
