"Miss Erica? Miss Erica, can you hear me?"

The voice seemed to come from far off. What was going on?

I opened my eyes just a little and I was immediately blitzed by a bright white light.

I closed them instantly as the pain burned my irises.

"Get the light away from her. Back away."

Through my eyelids, I could see the light dissipating. My heart rate dropped a little and I relaxed.

I heard the shuffling of feet around me and finally opened my eyes again.

The people around me were clad in white scrubs and had masks over their noses and mouths.
