"Kimberly, there's still some work at the company. I might come home late," Brian's voice sounded tired.
Before, I would have felt so sorry for him.
But today, I just responded indifferently:

Perhaps sensing something off in my tone, Brian hesitated before hanging up, asking,
"Kimberly, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? You don’t sound like yourself."
"It's nothing. I'm just a bit tired," I answered calmly.
"Then rest well. Once this busy period is over, I'll take you on a trip abroad," he said before hanging up.
