“I have a request to make, son,” My mother announced as soon as she walked into my study. She rarely asks me for a favor, unless it was one which was above her powers or one which needed my permission to carry out.

“You know you don't need my permission to do whatever you want, right?”

“Well, this one needs your permission.”
