I walked until the restless heat under my skin forced me downtown instead of deeper into the woods.

The upscale café sat quietly in the middle of the morning crowd, its sleek bar tucked in the corner like it was made for people who needed a drink before noon.

I ordered a mimosa and slid onto the polished stool crossing one leg over the other so the short sundress rode higher on my thighs.

The cold glass felt good against my fingers but the rest of me stayed warm and tight from the walk and the way my body still hummed with unfinished need.
