He came in, his expression glimmering with pure exhaustion. My eyes intently followed his sluggish movement as I tried to overcome the barrier between us so that I would welcome him properly.

"You didn't tell me that you'll be coming back this late. I've been waiting."

His eyes darted to his wristwatch, then he palmed his forehead with a sigh. "I'm so sorry. I lost track of time.
