There was a sudden commotion outside. Susan held her breath and heard the door slammed shut.

Susan breathed a sigh of relief. It was dark around. She grabbed her hand to keep herself awake with pain.

The footsteps outside were getting farther and farther. After a while, there was silence and everyone went away.

Susan immediately turned on the flashlight and came out from under the desk. She walked to the window behind the desk and opened the curtain. Outside was a green belt with tender leaves.

There was no one in the backyard.
