"Did your friend leave already ? You didn't quarrel, did you?”

Mona didn't say anything. She only raised her eyebrows and stared at Mrs. Donovan.

Mrs. Donovan didn't know she had made a mistake until then. "I'm sorry," she responded right away. "I was just worried that you would be in a bad mood. I didn't mean anything else.” She looked nervous and bowed her head.
