“Damn, this place looks like it costs more than my entire bloodline could earn in a lifetime,” I muttered under my breath as the heavy iron gates swung open without a sound.
My beat-up rental car crawled up the long driveway lined with perfectly trimmed hedges and those fancy lights that probably cost a fortune each.
My heart hammered against my ribs, not just from the nerves of meeting a big-shot author like Damien Voss for the first time, but from the way the whole estate screamed money and power.
