Amelie’s POV

I was exhausted. I didn’t want to leave Nathan, but I had to admit it. To my surprise, Marcus was out front waiting for me. Dylan wasn’t there, though.

“Marcus, you should be resting!” I exclaimed.

“I wasn’t hurt, Mrs. Michaels,” Marcus responded. “I was just drugged.”

“Still, you should at least have a couple of days off,” I replied. “How is Dylan?”

“He’s at home resting,” Marcus stated. “He has eight stitches on his temple.”

“Oh gosh, that’s horrible,” I declared.

“Dylan was mad he wasn’t allowed to work today,” Marcus chuckled. “I think he’ll fully recover.”

“Thank goodness,” I said, smiling.
