Alpha Kate POV

My cell phone is ringing, and the baby is crying. I pick up Claudia and rush back to grab my phone. It is odd for John to be calling me.

"Hello," I answer.

"Alpha Kate, the council is dead. I only saw one vampire, but he managed to kill them all before we could stop him. I am sorry, but the vampire escaped. I tried to call Alpha Erick, but he is not picking up," John says.

"Thank you," I say, and I hang up the phone.
