Naya watched helplessly as her few precious belongings scattered on the ground like trash. Her heart twisted in her chest at the sight, a mixture of indignation and despair welling up within her.
“They’re not rags,” she said, her voice quivering slightly.
“They’re all I have left of my old life when I was still a maid”
“Your old life doesn’t matter anymore,” Rhys said, his voice hard and dismissive.
“You’re a part of my world now.”
