Gilbert came to his senses in the evening, but there had been no improvement in Jacqueline's condition. The good thing was, she hadn't worsened either, and the doctors were trying their best. The whole night, Gilbert lay beside her on his bed and watched her lying still. He was still at risk and wasn't released, but he wanted to get down from his bed and hold her hands and talk to her.
