Everything happened in slow motion and the ground beneath Tara’s legs slipped. Akira rushed forward to hold Tara but, at the last moment, pushed her aside, right before the gunshot. Tara fell on the floor with a loud thud, screaming her lungs out as a dark crimson liquid oozed out of Akira’s chest. Her breathes stopped when Akira fell on her knees and cupped her wound. Tara’s teeth chattered in anticipation and the world around them spun when Akira fell on her front.
