What Harper Heard
Harper’s POV
Harper wasn’t trying to spy. Not really.
She had just finished playing with her dolls and went to look for Mommy. But when she got close to the hallway, she heard voices, Mommy and Aiden’s. She stopped near the door, peeking just a little, the way she always did when she wanted to hear grown-up stuff.
Mommy’s voice was soft but serious. “Anderson ruined me.”
Harper’s heart stopped.
She didn’t know who Anderson was, but she knew “ruined” was bad. Really bad. Worse than breaking a toy or spilling juice on the couch. Ruined meant something couldn’t be fixed.
Aiden wasn’t talking. Maybe he was...
