Six

She stumbled in, laughing with some guy like she didn’t have a care in the world. Her hand fumbled with the light switch, and the second the room lit up, her eyes landed on me.

“Christ!” she gasped, nearly tripping backward. Her smile vanished like a switch had been flipped. “What are you doing here?”

“Hello, Bianca,” I said calmly, raising my gun and pointing it straight at her.

She froze, eyes wide, chest rising and falling. Her friend took a step toward her—brave, or stupid, maybe both.

I tilted the gun toward him. “Now,” I said slowly, “you’re going to leave and go back to your miserable life...
