I have never been more happy to see my best friend than I was at the stall stands with Simone, surrounded by rouge wolves, their fangs flashing menacingly and their claws out.

“Josh—”

He flashed me a look that suggest I keep quiet, which I did immediately.

“Rufus,” he began, with his arms outstretched in a pleading manner. “I beg you to please let these ones go.”

“Why?” The bulky one called Rufus snarled, his yellow fangs glinting under the moonlight. “Finders keepers.”

“No Rufus,” Josh shook his head. “They will bring trouble. Trust me. You don’t want to meddle in this.”
