I had imagined spending my birthday with Daxton, licking gelato on the streets of Monaco, and watching the sunset dip; however, all he had left me was a note on the vanity table.

“Happy Birthday, princesa. I hate that this happened but I had to leave for Vietnam because of the hotel scandal that I told you about. I would’ve woken you up but you looked so peaceful and sweet whilst you slept. It would be selfish of me to make you come with me despite knowing how tired you were. I would make this up to you somehow. Enjoy your day, Verena”
