I awakened with my ear against Damian’s chest and the sky breaking apart above us.

The ward peeled away from the air over Silvermoon in broad silver sheets. Each one vanished before reaching the ground, and the collapse spread from north to west until nothing remained between the territory and the pale morning sky.

“Put me down.”

“You cannot stand.”

“Damian, put me the fuck down.”
