The two words fell like a blade.
My first Luna.
I didn't ask him anything. Not with the guards or healers watching. Whatever choked me, I swallowed it. I kept my hand resting protectively over my stomach.
Elara's fingers froze on the woman's wrist. The junior healer dropped her gaze to the floor. A guard shifted his stance.
Damian hadn't moved toward the stretcher.
He stayed turned to me, his arm brushing mine. His face wore a look I'd never seen. Deep confusion masked his features. It shocked me; Damian was always so certain.
I forced my mind past the ache in my chest.
A dead Luna didn't...
