There was a noticeable sense of tension in the air as dinnertime drew near. The atmosphere was heightened by Sienna's tardiness, and her conscious attempt to sidestep me only served to heighten my merriment. Margaret's presence at the table stipulated a moment's entertainment, but she was met with excuses when she tried to involve Sienna in plans for the next day.
"Sienna, darling, I was thinking we could spend some time together tomorrow. Perhaps a visit to the gardens?" Margaret suggested, her tone warm and inviting.
